With the merge of the repositories, we can now auto-generate the code for Haskell constants from the Python code. Currently this only handles the basic types (strings and integers). Handling containers such as lists and dictionaries is only possible if we would use a parser such that we recognise the element names. We could extend the convert-constants script if that becomes necessary, right now I'm looking at just the simple constants such as Iallocator modes, instance states, etc. Signed-off-by:

Based on Michael's suggestion, this patch partially reverts my changes. The new directories are: - doc/api/py - doc/api/hs - doc/coverage/py - doc/coverage/hs Basically the Python-specific output moves one level down (into py/) compared to the original location, and the Haskell stuff goes into hs/. Previously, Python api doc was under doc/api (which didn't match with the target rule, apidoc). After this patch, we have the following: - make py-apidoc generates Python api doc under doc/py-apidoc - make hs-apidoc generates Haskell api doc under doc/hs-apidoc - make apidoc does both (if hs-apidoc enabled at configure time) Signed-off-by:

This patch replaces the hand-written lists of fields, sometimes incomplete, wrong or inconsistent, with generated ones. What's not very nice yet is the representation for numbered lists (“nic.ip/0: IP address of 1st network interface”, “nic.ip/1: IP address of 2nd network interface”, etc.), but some kind of grouping can be done later. Some directories don't exist in the repository, but are required at build time (e.g. doc/html). Until now some were created explicitly, some through the target “stamp-directories” and other target simply relied on a previous target to create the directory. This patch tries to clean this up by getting rid of “stamp-directories” and instead use rules to recreate any missing directory. As described in a comment in the code, a file inside each directory is necessary, named “.dir”. Order-only dependencies are used for directory creation to avoid rebuilding where only the “.dir” file is missing (see “info make”, section “4.3 Types of Prerequisites”). The target for building the documentation is also changed to use “…/index.html” instead of a hidden file. Some style changes are also made. Signed-off-by:

Until now, Ganeti started and stopped its own daemons using custom functions. To start, the daemon was just executed and then sent the appropriate signals to stop it again. Init scripts would have to pay attention to the PID file and other things. With this patch, a new script is added (“daemon-util”, installed in $prefix/lib/ganeti/), centralizing the starting and stopping of daemons. The provided example init script is adjusted to use this new script. Ganeti's code no longer calls its own init script. Signed-off-by:

This was implemented in 350ecfec and reverted in 700bb843 after it broke “make distcheck”. With other changes in this patch series this will work now. Contributing to the original problem was that the news.rst file was not distributed. When we distribute the build documentation, the source must also be included (see Automake manual). Signed-off-by:
