During instance installations, you do not want the instance to reboot and start again with the same parameters, as that will most likely re-start the install process. Therefore, when the instance requests a reboot it should instead shutdown. This flag allows this to be controlled. Signed-off-by:

This adds documentation for both the short and long form of many options (which was inconsistent before: in some cases only the short form was used, in others only the long form). Note that the standard this patch adopts is to document both forms as such: {-O|--os-parameters} … This makes it a bit uglier in complex situations, but the alternatives considered were not perfect either. Other suggestions (with patches) welcome. Additionally, it fixes two doc bugs: - in gnt-cluster.rst, the --prealloc-wipe-disks section was in the middle of a paragraph - in gnt-instance.rst, a list was not typed correctly, thus it was mangled as a single paragraph Signed-off-by:

Currently, when converting an instance from plain to DRBD, the instance is blocked during the entire resync period. This patch adds the --no-wait-for-sync so that the operation finishes as soon as the DRBD sync has started, without waiting for the entire sync. This makes the instance available much faster. This patch introduces the option of changing an instance's nodes when doing the disk recreation. The rationale is that currently if an instance lives on a node that has gone down and is marked offline, it's not possible to re-create the disks and reinstall the instance on a different node without hacking the config file. Additionally, the LU now locks the instance's nodes (which was not done before), as we most likely allocate new resources on them. Signed-off-by:

This patch replaces the hand-written lists of fields, sometimes incomplete, wrong or inconsistent, with generated ones. What's not very nice yet is the representation for numbered lists (“nic.ip/0: IP address of 1st network interface”, “nic.ip/1: IP address of 2nd network interface”, etc.), but some kind of grouping can be done later. If for some reason (e.g. failed migration) one instance is running on multiple nodes the output can become inconsistent. To get that error and make it consistent between runs we make the call on the secondary too and look if it's running there. If so we report the instance as ERROR_wrongnode. Signed-off-by:

In some cases (e.g. the hypervisor not running at all), we might want to force disk deactivation, skipping the hypervisor checks. I believe this is not a good thing to do all the time, so this patch adds the force option to allow manual selection of this operation mode. Signed-off-by:

Allows to install Red Hat based systems, for example Oracle Linux. Tested with OEL. The hypervisor by default offers a device named 'sda'. If the SCSI module is already loaded, the disk device can't be created due to naming conflict, and the disk is not available. A workaround is to modify the initrd by removing the scsi driver from it. This helps, but doesn't allow to install the OS. Red Hat's installer, anaconda, runs parted, which tries to execute a check against /dev/sda and fails. This makes anaconda think that the disk is faulty, and not available. The best way to work around this, is to declare 'xvda' as the xen disk device. Red Hat version of parted package contains a patch which makes parted skip the SCSI test if device name starts with 'xvd'. This patch allows to pass -H xen-pvm:blockdev_prefix="xvd" and successfully run the Red Hat installer. Signed-off-by:
